Swedish Massage

At Catalina Medical Center, we offer Swedish massages that provide a great balance between relaxation and recovery.  Swedish massages use gentle pressure that is more soothing Patients who get Swedish massages get the best of both worlds with our Swedish massages. During your massage, our doctors apply different oils and lubricants to your skin to massage your muscles. Our doctors use different techniques during the massage including strokes that vary from kneading, stretching, and tapping your joints and muscles to relax and relieve your body. Before each massage, we ask our patients what type of pressure they want to be applied during the massage and specific area our doctors should focus on. The pressure level varies from light to firm and it is important that you are comfortable with the pressure that is being applied. We recommend Swedish massages for patients that are new to massages. The Activator Method Chiropractic Technique

The Activator Method Chiropractic Technique is used by Dr. Richard Cohen and Dr. Rob Josefsson at Catalina Medical Center. It is used to treat types of back pain, neck pain, and headaches.   It is a relatively painless procedure, an alternative to the chiropractic method of spinal adjustment and manipulation. Our staff will have you first come in for a consultation. This allows us to learn of your medical history and perform a physical evaluation. It’s also a great time for you to voice any concerns that you may have. Open communication lets us know what you want to achieve and how best to do it. The treatment will occur over a few sessions, allowing for progress to be recorded. Most patients begin to see improvement between four to six weeks.   At your appointment, you will come in and lie face down on the adjustment table. The Activator Adjusting Instrument will be placed upon each area of the spine individually. The device will push against the spine to relieve and restore motion. I

Cold Laser Therapy (CLT), also known as Low Level Laser Therapy, is a chiropractic treatment that uses specific wavelengths of light to accelerate the healing process within the body. At Catalina Medical Center, Dr. Richard Cohen and Dr. Rob Josefsson offer CLT to our eligible patients.   Cold lasers are handheld devices typically the size of a flashlight. The doctor places the laser over the injured or affected area for 30 seconds to several minutes. This all depends on the size of the area being treated and the dose of the laser.   Cold Laser Therapy is FDA approved and can be used to treat acute and chronic pain, ligament sprains, muscle strain, soft tissue injuries, tendonitis, arthritis, tennis elbow, back pain, bursitis, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Fibromyalgia.   The procedure is painless, noninvasive, and a nonaddicting treatment method. The light from the lasers travels throughout the body to open communication between your cells and the brain. This allows your brain to release
